Implementing Change Management Practices in a CPD Office

Speaker:

  • Ezra Wolfe, MS, General Manager, Cadmium
  • Elizabeth Drury, Senior Operations Manager, Compliance, Boston University School of Medicine
  • Matthew Stern, MS, Manager, Continuing Medical Education, Children’s Hospital Colorado

Administration of CPD activities is complex. Dealing with participants from all over the world with many different backgrounds means that organizations must tread carefully when running at a large scale. Making change at scale can be even more challenging. Change can result in effects and emotions such as fear, confusion and defiance that cause havoc for a CPD department. But change also offers opportunity. How can CPD offices best implement change in a way that provides the best outcomes for participants, faculty and administrators? This session will present case studies and small group activity to discover how to plan and implement changes in organization and educational practices for the best results.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the relevance of change management techniques and their impact in change management for continuing education participants, administrators, and technology
  • Identify types of resistance to change and how to address each as well as how to leverage “influencers” to increase change adoption.
  • Increase knowledge of strategies, formats & best practices for implementing changes in CPD delivery mechanisms to participants, faculty, administrators and executives.
