Our association is new to the Ethos platform and wanted to find out if anyone has any best practices when it comes to reporting on orders with discounts to get a per unit price.
We have noticed that when a coupon code is applied to an order that the discount is applied to the total order and is not applied at the product level. This means when we run a report especially on an order with products that are not discounted we can not see the true price per item on the order.
If anyone out there has any tips beyond on our current solutions it would be very helpful since we sell products in multiple different product lines and want to report on the true revenue for each product line as opposed to just overall course sales.
Right now we are looking at the following.
- Allowing discounts for the same product line only on an order. Restricting this to only matching products. (downfall is if a user wants to buy a discounted and non-discounted product they would need to make two transactions)
- Setting up a report for each discount type in looker and sending daily to accounting with overall order. (ex. all 30% off codes during the year would be in the 30% off report and we would track what courses are in the discounts and isolate those in the reporting and add a calculation to get the per unit price.
Thanks for your help!
