We have an enduring parent course that we regularly add children to. The parent activity houses all our virtual grand rounds, so we add to it every week. This parent course is set to report to PARS. Once the activity is 3 years old, we review all of the active child courses within the parent and hide anything that is no longer relevant. Over the years, we’ve also allowed many of the child courses to expire as we believe the content is no longer relevant, which means we have a lot of hidden child courses within the parent. When we open the Course Object tab, the list is long, takes some time to load, and is cumbersome to work with.
Does anyone here have a similar situation? If so, do you remove the child courses from the parent once they are no longer relevant? We’d love to do so, maybe move them to another, hidden, parent course where we can access them for archival purposes, but I don’t want the removal to impact the reporting data. Since enduring content can remain active for 3 years, I assume it should be safe to remove anything that has not been active during the most recent reporting window, but I would like confirmation of this before attempting it. Would it be better to create a new parent course once the 3 years have passed, and reconcile the reporting data after the fact? I prefer avoiding this as it seems cumbersome, but I am willing to consider the option if it means that browsing the existing courses in the Course Object list would be a smoother experience.
