Does anyone know if replacing a scorm file will cause the course outline object to be reset and show that module not complete? Would like to make a cosmetic change to one sentence in the SCORM module but not sure if it will cause people to have to complete again.
I have tested and Ezra also confirmed that if you replace the SCORM file progress is retained for that object.
Thanks
Changing the SCORM file does not change the Ethos course outline status. But, it does change the bookmarking and progress status within the SCORM module. So, you have to look at how many users are in progress in that module and weigh that (e.g. how important is this change?), because if you swap it out, users have to start that module over and that could cause dissatisfaction. If the user completed the module, then the status of the module should stay as completed.
The best practice for changing out a SCORM object with in progress users is to create a new version of the course and all new users enroll in the new version. We generally don’t do this unless it’s a critical content change. We save the change for the next version of the course.
If no one is in the middle of the SCORM module, then it’s no problem to swap it out.
Hi Jennifer,
Have confirmed all that you have in your post. We had a pilot group and wanted to be sure of what the impact would be of replacing the SCORM file.
Thanks
Chuck
