New CAPTCHA option- reCAPTCHA v3

In an effort to assist with the increase of tickets related to spam submissions with customer sites, we have added support for the latest captcha offering: reCAPTCHA v3. This version offers new methods to track interactions on your site to better qualify legitimate vs spam traffic instead of using the traditional Captcha question which many spam bots can now get around. Go to /admin/config/people/captcha to configure.

Data Explorer Role- additional permissions

Site Admins who have the Data Explorer role will have new permissions within EthosCE Analytics to create table calculations and create custom fields within their Self Service reports and dashboards.

Bug fixes and other improvements

EthosCE 7.63 also includes various other improvements, bug and security fixes.

Update on Zoom App

We are continuing to push through the Zoom App review process but have not yet been approved. While JWT app type has officially been deprecated by Zoom, they are offering a one time extension through November 10, 2023. More information was sent to any impacted account owners which describes the extension:

If you’re unable to migrate your JWT apps we are happy to grant a one-time extension to allow continued use of the JWT app until Nov 10, 2023. By proceeding with re-activating the JWT app type, you must acknowledge that this is a one time extension until November 10, 2023 and that there will be no further extensions available after that date. To re-activate your JWT App, login to the Zoom Marketplace, select your JWT App and navigate to the Activation tab.

You may also review the FAQ and migration guide 1 to help you with this process.

Coming Soon!

ACCME has announced the addition of American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) in their CME for MOC program coming this fall. We are working towards adding support for this new board and related MOC credit reporting requirements in EthosCE. Look for more information coming from ACCME on official launch date and for future releases to closely align to offer this within EthosCE.

Hi Jen, is there any way that Cadmium could provide a video overview, guide, or training for using reCAPTCHA v3? I looked around the web for some tutorials, but I’m not sure that I fully understand the nuances of the version and how it filters out potential spammers. Our use case would be to hopefully stop those that are manually entering into our anonymous forms. We are currently using the previous recaptcha. Also, do we need to post Google’s terms of service to our site, because of the use of Google’s data policy? Thanks! -Dave

Hi All
It used to be a lot easier to find tutorials when issues comes up that we would like to troubleshoot ourselves before submitting tickets to JIRA

As you know turnaround time for tickets is a nightmare

Does anyone have a policy for exhibitors who request a refund when they cancel exhibit?

Bernice- thanks for sharing this feedback. We have some exciting things in the works internally to address this. Earlier in the year, we implemented a brand new Cadmium wide Training & Documentation team and one of the major first tasks is to create a centralized documentation system. Additionally, on EthosCE specifically, we are in the midst of a few new self paced training which should be released before the end of the year. If you find any gaps in documentation that are causing you issues in the meantime, please submit a support ticket and we can add that to our priority list.

Dave-

I am working on a confluence page about configuring reCAPTCHA and can post that when its available. That document will be specific to how this can be applied in EthosCE and basics on how it works.

reCaptchaV3 is best in breed service offered by Google. The key changes here are that it is frictionless, meaning the user does not get presented with the typical challenge, but instead the users actions are scored to determine the likelihood of a visitor being a bot or a human. There is a nice video explaining how it works here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbvxFW4UJdU.

Each EthosCE site is configured out of the box to use the EthosCE managed reCAPTCHA keys and default actions to score, however you are welcome to create your own accounts and enter provide your own keys for this service.

Our policy for exhibitors is the following:

  • If this agreement is cancelled by either party forty-five (45) days or more in advance of the Activity Date, PROVIDER will refund the Exhibit Fee less a $300 processing fee. If this agreement is cancelled by EXHIBITOR less than forty-five (45) days in advance of the Activity Date, the total amount due under this Agreement shall be immediately due and payable to PROVIDER.
