Having difficulty with reminder emails. We enroll our users via bulk import and I have been advised this may be our issue. We have created a reminder to be triggered after a SPECIFIC date and then repeat every three days. Selected send to INCOMPLETE (ACTIVE ENROLLMENTS). No reminders arrive.
We are bulk enrolling to help ensure compliance and we are able to send that reminder out showing their where enrolled, just not the reminder for incomplete. Enrolled uses COURSE ENROLLMENT CREATED and send to ENROLLED. No issues with that one.
BUMP, hoping to get someone’s thoughts or workarounds.
The reminder system in EthosCE has always remained a mystery to me and a bit frustrating. I recently entered a support ticket that has been pushed to support as follows:
We would like to request an enhancement to the email reminder functionality within course setup in EthosCE. Specifically, we are seeking the ability to apply conditional logic to automated reminders, similar to the functionality currently available in Webform Templates.
At present, reminder emails cannot be targeted based on a learner’s progress through individual course objects. This limitation results in learners receiving irrelevant or redundant reminders, even when they have already completed certain steps. Over time, this reduces engagement and increases the likelihood that important communications are ignored or deleted.
Hello,
We would also like better logic for the reminders. We would also like to be able to easily delete reminders that are cloned, but not needed in the new course. And to be able to easily re-order the emails by date of scheduled distribution. If anyone has tips on managing these two items and/or better targeting emails, that would be greatly appreciated.
Hoping you get good news back from your ticket.
Agree, they tend to pile up so It would be nice to delete the old/inactive one.
And apologies. I didn’t really contribute in a way that helps you solve your issue. Since certain triggers do not apply until a learner has started a course or a course object, we use things like “attended” to send reminders. This sends unnecessary reminders to those that have already completed all of the steps in the course. Again, not solving your issue but confirming that there are issues that need to be addressed with reminder emails.
@mikeorlando Apologies, too. I didn’t see your original question. My thought is similar to Laura’s. Do you make sure that their enrollment is started? This might make them “active.” Barb
Sounds like the issue, I bulk enroll, but then if they don’t start the course… there is no reminder they are enrolled by have not completed it. Seems like a fatal flaw.
Is there a manual way to flip them to active or is it literally them login in and starting the course only?
I’m pretty sure that when you upload the learners, you can add the start date - that should work?? feel free to reach out to me outside of this convo (barbara.anderson@wisc.edu). I can show you what I mean or ask your ethos contact.
