Removing a course from a learning group

We have our catalog set up so that we have publicly available activities posted generally and all of our employee-only activities hidden from public view within a private learning group.

We got slowed down on building out our library of publicly available activities, so we want to hide them from the public but keep them showing in the catalog for our employees. I know that I can easily add these things to our employee learning group, but we don’t want that to be their permanent home. Before I move them there, I want to confirm that I can move them back out. If I change the learning group back to “none” will this work? I have memories of cloning a live course to create an enduring material from it and being unable to make the saved change stick.

Other ideas on how to put these activities in a liminal space in which our employees have access but the public doesn’t until we’re ready to let the public know we have education for them?

That will work. We created a learning group that internal users use when working on a course before it goes “public”. There is a caveat when you have courses that have parent/child relationships you have to move all of the children as well. They don’t automatically move when you change the parent. This makes sense since the children, in essence, their own course but it was counter intuitive to me from a systems perspective.

Thank you! I might have just had a glitch when I was trying to do it before. (Or maybe I’m misremembering exactly what I was trying to do.) This definitely simplifies things for us!
