Our team currently offers activities that provide AMA PRA Category 1 credit and, if applicable, Type 1 MOC credit (e.g., ABS Accredited CME or ABOS Accredited CME). Currently, we have separate sessions for claiming AMA PRA Category 1 credit and Type 1 MOC credit on the same day, with participants notified via email about the MOC credit opportunity after claiming AMA PRA Category 1 credit.
We aim to simplify this process by allowing participants to claim both AMA PRA Category 1 credit and their board-specific Type 1 MOC credit (if available for that activity/session) using the same text-in code. However, when we implement this, Ethos incorrectly awards both credits to all physicians, regardless of whether they have the relevant board specified in their profile.
Is there a way to configure Ethos so that we only need one text-in code for each session, and it appropriately awards the correct credits based on the physician’s profile?
We’re having the same issue. We have a ticket in to get it changed, but I have no idea how long that will take.
It’s my understanding that right now ABS and ABOS credit is mapped to the degree field, but it needs to be mapped to the specialty board field. I’ve been trying to get more information on when they will be able to implement this fix, but they haven’t responded yet. In the meantime, I’ve been manually removing credit from those who receive it incorrectly, which is very time-consuming.
Hi all! Thanks for raising this! Just a quick note—credit mapping is configured individually for each site, so the setup can vary depending on your organization’s needs.
We can use a mix of profile fields and logic-based rules (like requiring a diplomate ID) to determine credit eligibility. If you’re running into issues or have questions about how your setup works, please submit a support ticket. That way, we can review your specific configuration and make sure everything is working as expected—or make adjustments if needed.
Amanda, for the scenario you’re describing, as Tom mentioned, we’d recommend using logic-based mapping to prevent users who aren’t part of the MOC board from being inappropriately awarded MOC credit. All physicians would still receive AMA PRA Category 1™ Credit, but only those who have entered a diplomate ID would receive the additional MOC credit.
We have a ticket in to correct mapping for ABS, ABOS and ABTS also so if anyone is submitting MOC for those credit types they will need to have mapping corrected so that physicians dont receive those credits also automatically since Board IDs are not entered for those surgeons only first, last name and birthdate
