EthosCE 7.25 Release Notes
Sites will be updated per the release schedule. For a full list of changes, please review the changelog.
Child credits for regulatory mandates and other use cases
The addition of child credit allows learners to capture hours towards topics to track and meet regulatory mandated continuing education requirements.
For example, a course might award 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Of that one credit, perhaps 0.5 is eligible to meet the state requirement for ethics, patient safety or pain management. This new feature allows you to enable awarding of those special topics as a child of the AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, but only when the learner is eligible to earn the AMA credit.
This feature is designed to be generic and can be used for any scenario where credit needs a special designation to be visible to the learner.
For example, another use case would be in chiropractic, where there is no national board, and each course requires state certification. The chiropractic credit type could have the certifying states as child credit. Another application is IPCE credit, which should be awarded alongside the primary credit type.
Child credits will also make possible the reporting of regulatory mandated credit to ACCME’s state medical board pilot.
The child credits will appear on the course landing page and catalog. On the transcript, the child credit will appear in a new column to the right of the credit type the user was awarded.
There will be no noticeable change to your site when this feature is released as it requires creating and configuring the child credit type. Please contact us if you are interested in using it.
